Manchester United’s rivals have been given a warning by Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, that they will not be able to reclaim the success they experienced under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Guardiola shared this statement in anticipation of Sunday’s Derby match at Old Trafford.
In the previous season, Guardiola led City to an extraordinary Treble, matching one of Ferguson’s most significant accomplishments.
During Ferguson’s tenure at United, they secured 13 Premier League titles and won the Champions League twice.
When asked if the red side of Manchester would witness success again, Guardiola, who has won five out of the last six Premier League titles, responded sceptically.
He replied: “Maybe not in the way that Sir Alex Ferguson controlled in those days because in that moment I think there were only two or three teams.
“Now there are more clubs with a lot of incredible managers – so maybe not in that way.”
