A Benue Links bus carrying passengers to Otukpo on the Naka road in Gwer West LGA was attacked on Thursday by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
During the attack, one passenger was killed and several others were injured.
This is not the first time such brutal attacks have occurred on this road. Tyolaha village, where the attack took place, has been a frequent target for suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The attackers, numbering around 15, easily dispersed any resistance from their victims and escaped without difficulty.
As a result of these ongoing attacks, many residents have fled the area and farmers have been forced to relocate.
Those who remain are calling on the government and security forces for protection.
Benue Police Public Relations Officer, Anekwe Catherine, who confirmed the incident said “a bus belonging to Benue Links which was heading to Otukpo was attacked by unknown gunmen and three persons including women were wounded and one person died this morning.”
