If Roma is defeated by Cagliari in their upcoming Serie A match on Sunday, manager Jose Mourinho may be facing termination.
Despite leading Roma to consecutive sixth-place finishes in the league, as well as a Europa League final and triumph in the inaugural Europa Conference League, Mourinho’s team has only managed to win two out of their first seven matches this season, leaving them in 13th position.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Roma owner Dan Friedkin is prepared to dismiss Mourinho if they are beaten by the league’s bottom club, Cagliari.
Friedkin allegedly wanted to remove the Portuguese manager following their 4-1 loss to Genoa last week, but was convinced to give him more time by sporting director Tiago Pinto.
Although Roma has since achieved victories over Frosinone and Servette, Friedkin is reportedly still contemplating Mourinho’s future at the club.
