The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has prompted a strong message from the English Premier League (EPL).
In their statement, the EPL expressed a firm desire for peace and strongly denounced the heinous and savage acts that have occurred.
It has been reported that the death toll in this conflict has exceeded 2500 individuals since it began last weekend.
Israel claims that 1200 lives have been taken due to Hamas’s deadly attacks, while Gaza asserts that over 1300 people have died as a result of retaliatory strikes.
In response to these events, the EPL issued a compassionate statement on Thursday, offering sympathy to the victims and their bereaved families.
The statement reads;
“The Premier League is shocked and saddened by the escalating crisis in Israel and Gaza, and strongly condemns the horrific and brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians. We hope for peace, and our heartfelt sympathies are with the victims, their families and the communities impacted.”
Meanwhile, the English Football League have also announced that a period of silence will be observed across fixtures in League One and League Two this weekend.
