After his stellar performance at the 2023 Ballon d’Or, popular Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, has taken to social media to express his excitement and gratitude.
By showcasing his hit song “Calm Down” on such a prestigious global platform, Rema continues to elevate Afrobeats and generate pride among Nigerians.
The award ceremony, which took place on October 30th, 2023 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France, saw Lionel Messi from Argentina emerge as the winner, followed by Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Vinicius Junior, and Julian Alvarez.
Nigeria’s own Victor Osimhen achieved the remarkable feat of ranking 8th in the world, followed by Bernardo Silva and Luka Modric at the 10th spot.
In his Instagram post following his performance, Rema expressed his gratitude to the award organizers for the incredible opportunity and also extended his thanks to God.
He wrote; “Afrobeat in Ballon d’Or, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity. Glory to the most high for the grace. 🤲🏾❤️.”
