According to Forbes, Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, is the highest-earning footballer in the world in 2023.
Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, earned more money than both Lionel Messi and Neymar in the past year.
Furthermore, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also ranked as the highest-earning athlete across all sports.
At 38 years old, Ronaldo has secured the top spot with projected total earnings of $260 million.
His contract with Al Nassr is believed to be valued at $200 million, and his endorsement portfolio is estimated to be worth $60 million annually.
In second place is his long-time rival Lionel Messi, expected to earn a total of $135 million. Completing the top three is Brazil forward Neymar, who has total earnings of $112 million.
