Balarabe Lawal, a nominee for a ministerial position, has addressed his collapse during the Senate screening.
Lawal stated that his sudden collapse was due to exhaustion and reassured that he is currently feeling fine.
Lawal, originally from Kaduna State, underwent the screening process alongside Jamila Ibrahim (Kwara) and Ayodele Olawande (Ondo), to join the previously approved 45 ministers in August.
The screening occurred after President Bola Tinubu’s letter to the Senate, which was read on Tuesday, requesting the confirmation of the nominees.
However, during the screening, Lawal collapsed soon after introducing himself, prompting several individuals to rush to his aid.
Approximately an hour later, following a closed session of the Senate, Lawal left the chamber with a subtle smile.
“I’m alright now. I’ve been treated and I’m alright now. It was basically exhaustion,” he told journalists.
While the Kaduna native was unable to take questions due to the incident, his nomination was confirmed alongside his fellow nominees
