Court remands ex-CBN Gov, Emefiele in Kuje Prison

Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has ruled that Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, be detained in Kuje prison until November 22, when a decision on his bail request will be made.

Emefiele’s lead counsel, Mathew Burkaa SAN, presented the bail application, which was opposed by Rotimi Oyedepo on behalf of the Federal Government.

Justice Muazu noted that a bench ruling could not be given due to the numerous authorities cited by both parties and requested time to review the authorities and examine the exhibits provided by Emefiele.

Officials from the Kuje prison have been contacted to transport Emefiele to the facility.
