Shallipopi, a rising star in the music industry, recently shared his journey on the Zero Conditions podcast as he faced the challenges of finding accommodation after moving to Lagos.
During the podcast, Shallipopi discussed the ups and downs of his early career, revealing that many people he relied on in Lagos declined to help him.
However, he also spoke about his first-ever show in Port Harcourt, where he was paid 50,000 Naira.
This payment and the organizers covering his travel expenses marked the beginning of his live performances.
Despite the relatively modest compensation, Shallipopi expressed gratitude and a deep passion for music, emphasizing that his commitment went beyond financial gain.”
He said:
“When I got to Lagos, I was looking for who to stay with; I wasn’t lost but couldn’t find anyone. Eventually, I found somebody and told them I would only stay for four days; I dey try corner them. After four days, I got a show in Port Harcourt for N50K. I never meet any distribution company, I was doing everything with my phone,” he said in part.
