Joke Silva has recently stepped up to discuss and debunk some common misconceptions and charges regarding older women and their sexual lives.
Her recent podcast appearance, among other veteran Nollywood actors, shed light on various personal and sensitive themes.
Joke, well-known for her involvement in Nollywood and her marriage to Olu Jacobs, has spoken out about insults about older women.
She addressed a myth regarding sexual drive in women, particularly as they age, in the podcast. She remembers reading an article that said older men frequently pursue younger women due to older women’s perceived reduced sexual drive. Silver dismissed this notion as “a whole load of crap,” emphasizing that such broad generalizations are far from accurate.
Also, note that she publicly announced last year that her spouse was suffering from dementia, a condition that has increasingly worsened over time. As she faced with the realities of her husband’s worsening health, this revelation had marked a major and emotional time for her.
Silva in candid discussion with Chude, revealed the profound impact of her husband’s illness on their marriage. She confessed that coping with the changes in her husband has been anything but easy. The man she once knew is no longer present in the way he used to be. Yet, her love for him remains unwavering. She spoke about reaching a point of acceptance, recognizing the harsh reality of their situation.
Despite these challenges, Silver fondly reminisced about the days when Old Jacob was in good health. She praised him for being an “incredible father” to their children and an “amazing husband” to her. His contributions to their family life were highlighted as a testament to his character and the depth of their relationship.
Earlier this year, Silva celebrated her husband’s 81st birthday. The occasion was marked with a heartfelt prayer and a touching photo shared on social media. Silver expressed deep gratitude for his life, showering him with prayers and affection in her message. This gesture resonated with Nollywood fans and well-wishers, who joined in to extend their birthday wishes to Old Jacob.
