JUST IN: EFCC obeys Court order, presents Emefiele for bail hearing

Emefiele

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has complied with a court order requiring it to bring former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele before the Abuja High Court.

In an order issued on November 2, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi directed the anti-graft agency to either free Emefiele, who had been detained since June 9, or produce him in court for a bail decision.

However, at the resumption of the case on Monday, the anti-graft agency failed to present the embattled former CBN governor before the Abuja High Court.

Meanwhile, Justice Adeniyi restated his directive on Monday, making it clear that the detained former CBN governor is to be in court today, November 8, for the purpose of bail proceedings or for the EFCC to release him.
