Barcelona has the option to terminate Robert Lewandowski’s contract at the end of the season, due to a clause related to the number of games played.
Sport reports that Lewandowski’s deal with the LaLiga champions includes a break clause stating that if the Polish international fails to start or play for more than 45 minutes in over 55% of the games this season,
Barcelona can terminate his contract, which is worth millions.
This clause comes as a result of Barca’s struggles this season, with Lewandowski facing criticism for his occasional poor performances.
Given the high salary that the forward earns and the club’s well-known financial troubles, Barcelona could be considering letting him go.
