According to the Daily Mail UK, Wayne Rooney has been fired as the manager of Birmingham City after a disappointing 15-match run.
Despite his legendary status at Manchester United, Rooney only managed to win two games during his time as Blues boss.
His dismissal came after a 3-0 loss to Leeds on Monday night, which marked his ninth loss as the team’s manager.
This defeat left the team in 20th position in the Championship.
Despite Rooney’s promise to continue fighting, staff members were called to a meeting at the training ground on Tuesday and informed of his firing.
Prior to his stint at Birmingham City, the 38-year-old former England international had managerial roles at Derby County and MLS side DC United.
