JUST IN: Private jet with VIPs on board crash-lands in Ibadan

Ibadan private jet

Ten individuals, including notable figures, narrowly survived a near-death experience when a private jet crash-landed in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

The incident occurred on Friday, January 26, 2024, at approximately 11 am, at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport.

The jet, labeled N580KR, veered off the runway and came to rest in a nearby forested area.

Swift action was taken by firefighters and rescue personnel from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who quickly arrived at the scene.

Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported.

“It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty,” a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, told our correspondent over the phone.

The spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Tunji Oketunmbi, said he would revert but he was yet to do so as of press time.

Recall that, in November, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped death when a plane he was on board crash-landed at the same airport.

He was onboard with 12 other passengers and flight crew.

The HS 125 aircraft was operated by Flint Aero bearing nationality and registration marks 5N-AMM.
