President Bola Tinubu will leave Lagos on Thursday for a two-day official visit to the State of Qatar.
The visit, at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will “further strengthen cooperation between the two nations in several areas, including security, cultural exchange, and economic development,” according to Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The announcement is headlined: ‘President Tinubu accepts invitation to visit Qatar and attend business and investment forum.’
“During the visit, President Tinubu will witness the signing of several agreements focused on boosting Nigeria’s real sector and creating value-additive investments across the fields of trade, education, culture, solid minerals, digital economy, agriculture, and gas, as well as fostering cooperation on counter-terrorism,” said Ngelale.
The President will also participate in a business and investment forum that will bring together top-level executives in Nigeria and Qatar’s private and public sectors to advance cross-sectoral opportunities for mutually beneficial growth and development.
Senior government officials will accompany him on the trip relevant to the agreements to be signed.
Qatar is the third Gulf state Tinubu will be visiting since assuming the Presidency nine months ago.
It is also his 16th and 12th foreign destination and trip, respectively.
So far, he has visited Paris, France (thrice); London, the United Kingdom; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Norvo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; New York, the United States of America, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Berlin, Germany and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
