VeryDarkMan, a well-known activist, has investigated why the Grammy Awards excluded all Nigerian nominees.
In 2024, five Nigerian artists were nominated for Grammy Awards: Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr. However, none of them received the honour.
In reaction, VeryDarkMan criticized the Grammys, claiming they are attempting to prevent Afrobeat from obtaining complete control over them.
Buttressing his points, VeryDarkMan claimed that Shakti’s “This Moment” album won the Best Global Music Album. Still, it doesn’t have up to 1 million total views on YouTube.
He also claimed that he had no idea who Tyla was until yesterday, and her song, “Water,” was hyped by Ayra Starr, who he thought sang the song.
VeryDarkMan claims numerous nominations were extended to Nigerian performers to make the awards ceremony more exciting.
