Anthony Joshua knocked out Francis Ngannou in two rounds and required immediate medical attention.
The fight, held on Friday night at ‘Knockout Chaos’ in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, saw the former heavyweight world champion dominate from the start.
Joshua got two early knockdowns before throwing a devastating right hand to end the bout.
Ngannou, a former UFC champion, tried to recover from each knockdown before being knocked out in a horrific spectacle at the Kingdom Arena.
Paramedics quickly entered the ring to attend to Ngannou, who fortunately regained consciousness and was able to speak with Joshua after the fight.
Joshua, who urged Ngannou to continue boxing, now looks ahead to facing the winner of Tyson Fury’s upcoming two-fight series with Oleksandr Usyk, the current WBO, WBA, and IBF champion.
Ngannou, on the other hand is expected to return to MMA for a fight with PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira later this year.
In the post-fight press briefing, Joshua said, “It only takes one shot in the heavyweight division.
“I’m just doing it while I’m here and making the most of it. In five years, I won’t be fighting.”
