On Saturday, Arsenal defeated Brentford 2-1 thanks to Kai Havertz’s winning header with four minutes remaining.
The game was tied after Yoanne Wissa capitalized on Aaron Ramsdale’s blunder to cancel out Declan Rice’s opening.
Ramsdale’s error appeared to hurt Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s crucial title clash between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield.
However, Havertz provided a header late on, like he did in the reverse fixture in November.
Arsenal’s eighth consecutive league win moves them one point ahead of Liverpool and two ahead of Manchester City.
The hard-fought victory puts Arsenal in provisional top spot with 64 points, one point ahead of Liverpool and two ahead of Manchester City—who play each other.
