Blanket, Michael Jackson’s son, has filed legal documents to prevent his grandmother Katherine Jackson from using estate funds.
The 22-year-old, also known as Bigi, submitted the paperwork this week, as reported by TMZ.
The dispute over Michael’s estate, which has been ongoing for almost 15 years since his passing in 2009, centers around the potential sale of a significant portion of his work catalog.
Both Blanket and Katherine, 93, initially opposed the sale, but Katherine later asked the court to allow the executors to explore other options and cover her legal fees.
Despite this, Blanket’s legal team argues that he does not believe Katherine’s appeal will succeed and that he wants to avoid further devaluing the estate with costly legal proceedings.
His legal team asked the court to “use its best judgment” in ruling for Katherine to be reimbursed for “reasonable attorney’s fees” prior to appealing the court’s ruling.
Katherine previously claimed that Michael Jackson had never intended for his catalog to be sold.
