Eniola Aluko becomes first black woman to own Italian club

Eniola Aluko, a former England women’s player, has made history as the first black woman to own a club in Italy.

She has purchased a significant stake in FC Como’s female team and is part of a $100 million ownership group called Mercury 13.

Como Women, founded in 2020, competes in the top tier of Italian Serie A and plays at a 3,700-capacity stadium.

Eniola, born in Lagos to Nigerian parents in 1987, later became a naturalized English citizen and represented the Three Lionesses.
