Why I didn’t build new schools in Anambra as governor – Peter Obi replies Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a prominent figure on social media, recently criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, questioning his lack of new school constructions during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State.

Reno Omokri challenged Peter Obi and his supporters to present evidence of a completed school project initiated by Obi, offering a substantial reward for such proof.

In response to these allegations, Peter Obi addressed the issue at a press briefing in Abuja.

He argued that those leveling accusations against him had not thoroughly examined his policy agenda.

Obi highlighted the dire state of education in Anambra upon his assumption of office, emphasizing that schools were shut down and the region ranked poorly nationally.

However, during his tenure, he transformed the educational landscape, propelling Anambra to the top position in the country.

“I improved the quality, physical and mental well-being of the people, schools, had the basic things they needed and the people shone like stars and that was my manifesto.

“Building new schools when the old ones are moribund is just like building coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.”
