UEFA is poised to expand the squad size to 26 players for the upcoming European Champions this summer.
This development comes in the wake of a vote held on Monday, which approved the augmentation of team rosters.
The proposition was initially introduced during a congregational gathering of all national team coaches in Dusseldorf a fortnight ago.
During a meeting of the UEFA national competitions committee on Monday, representatives voted in favor of elevating the squad limit from 23 to 26 players.
The utilization of larger squads was implemented during Euro 2021 to assist teams in managing the repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis.
Nonetheless, the decision is not definitively confirmed as of yet, pending approval from the UEFA executive committee (EXCO) to ratify the rule amendment. It is widely anticipated that this process will merely entail a formal endorsement.
