Barcelona have selected Hansi Flick as manager, succeeding Xavi Hernandez, who was fired last week.
Flick has signed a two-year contract with the Nou Camp.
The former Bayern Munich and Germany manager is best known for leading Bayern Munich to a triple in the 2019-20 season.
He has been out of work since his dismissal as Germany’s national team coach in September.
Xavi was fired a month after Barcelona persuaded him to continue as manager despite previously intending to quit at the end of this season.
The 44-year-old Spaniard took the Catalans to the Champions League quarter-finals but lost to Paris Saint-Germain.
Having been appointed in November 2021 to manage the club where he won 25 major trophies as a player, 2010 World Cup winner Xavi steered the team from ninth place in La Liga to the runners-up spot following Ronald Koeman’s sacking.
Barca were crowned champions in his first full season in charge, but they failed to mount a serious challenge this time around and surrendered their title to rivals Real Madrid.
