The internet is where relationships go to sink — Actress Dorcas Shola-Fapson

During a recent podcast, the actress known as Ms DSF, Dorcas Fapson, shared details of a distressing incident where a man declined her based on her early life circumstances.

In the discussion, which included Moet Abebe as the host and Tolanibaj as co-anchor, Ms DSF narrated the surprising moment when she revealed to a potential companion about losing her mother at a young age.

To her dismay, the feedback she encountered was that of refusal. The individual, whose identity remains anonymous, conveyed to Ms DSF that he was unable to engage in a relationship with her because she had not been raised in a household with both parents.

In her emotional retelling of the incident, Ms DSF conveyed her astonishment and pain, pondering whether she should be held responsible for situations beyond her influence.

“The most craziest thing that someone has ever said to me was when I told a guy that I lost my mum as a child and he said he could never date me. He said that he can’t date someone who wasn’t raised in a two-parent household. And I get that but could I have prevented my mum from dying? Is that my fault?,” Ms DSF said.

One of the hosts of the podcast, Moet Abebe, expressed understanding towards Fapson’s ordeal, disclosing that she, too, had faced similar scrutiny from potential romantic interests.

Abebe shared how a suitor turned her down due to being brought up by a single parent and preferring a partner from a different background.

“I can relate because someone has also told me that before. The reason was because he was also raised by a single parent. So, according to him, he didn’t want a child from someone with a similar upbringing. That was his excuse but I didn’t think it’s a reasonable excuse,” Abebe said.
