A male individual sustained gunshot wounds outside the residence of Drake in Toronto, Canada, leading to his hospitalization with severe injuries, as reported by CBC and Toronto’s CityNews.
The man, who was allegedly shot in the chest, underwent a surgical procedure at a nearby medical facility, with his condition assessed as non-life-threatening.
During a media briefing outside the home of Drake on Tuesday morning, Inspector Paul Krawczyk from the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force mentioned that law enforcement officers responded to the location shortly after 2 a.m. that day, discovering a young man with a gunshot injury.
Krawczyk expressed uncertainty regarding whether the renowned rapper known as Passionfruit was present in the residence during the aforementioned incident.
“That person was working apparently as a security guard at the residence. He was standing outside the gates in front of the residence when the shooting occurred,” Krawczyk explained, via The Hollywood Reporter.
“We have individuals who obviously performed the shooting, who were seen in a vehicle,” he continued. ” I do not have a description of the vehicle or the suspects at this time. Again, it’s very early on in the investigation.”
The shooting incident occurs within the context of an ongoing musical rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, characterized by a series of tracks featuring increasingly personal and critical lyrics about each other’s professional and personal lives. However, any linkage between these events has not been officially established.
