Maurizio Sarri, the former Chelsea manager, has openly acknowledged that departing from the club was the greatest error of his professional life.
He described his decision to leave as a “crucial mistake” in his career.
Despite leading Chelsea to victory over Arsenal in the Europa League final in 2019 and reaching the Carabao Cup final earlier that year, where they were defeated by Manchester City,
Maurizio Sarri made the choice to depart Stamford Bridge and return to Italy to take over at Juventus. Looking back, he now laments his departure from the Premier League.
“Leaving Chelsea has been my biggest mistake,” he told Sky Italia.
“There was a good basis to stay there and continue at the club, I did a big mistake in that moment.
“We won the Europa League, the project was great but I wanted to return in Italy, unfortunately.”
