Igor Tudor has officially become the new head coach of Lazio, signing an 18-month contract following Maurizio Sarri’s resignation last week.
Sarri stepped down after a series of defeats, including an elimination from the Champions League Round of 16 by Bayern Munich.
Giovanni Martusciello took temporary charge and guided the team to a Serie A win against Frosinone, but Tudor’s appointment was widely expected.
The 45-year-old Croatian coach has a strong resume, having managed teams like Olympique Marseille, Verona, and Galatasaray.
Tudor has also worked as an assistant manager for the Croatia national team and as part of Andrea Pirlo’s coaching staff at Juventus.
Lazio, currently in 9th place in the league, will look to improve their form with Tudor at the helm and secure a spot in European competition for next season.
