Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Igor Tudor as interim manager following the dismissal of Thomas Frank on Wednesday.
The 47-year-old Croatian has signed a short-term contract that will run until the summer, with no option to make the move permanent. The decision, led by chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and technical director Johan Lange, indicates the club are planning a major managerial appointment in the off-season rather than committing long-term now.
Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly among the names being considered for a permanent return, despite his current commitment with the United States men’s national soccer team ahead of the World Cup. Pochettino has frequently expressed his affection for the north London club since his departure.
Igor Tudor arrives with a clear task: revive a struggling campaign. Tottenham are currently 16th in the Premier League table, just five points above the relegation zone, following a poor run of eight league matches without a win. However, the club remain in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, offering some hope in an otherwise difficult season.
Previously in charge of clubs including Juventus and Olympique de Marseille, Tudor is known for his high-intensity style and direct approach — qualities Spurs hope will spark an immediate turnaround.
Speaking to club media, Igor Tudor said: “It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment. I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear — to bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.”
Sporting director Lange added: “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact. Our objective is straightforward — to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League.”
