Tottenham Appoint Roberto De Zerbi on Five Year Deal as Relegation Battle Intensifies

Roberto De Zerbi named new Olympique Marseille coach

Tottenham Hotspur have made a decisive managerial move by appointing Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach, handing the Italian a five-year contract as the club fights to avoid relegation.

De Zerbi becomes Spurs’ third manager this season, following the departures of Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, highlighting a turbulent campaign for the North London side.

The 46-year-old faces an immediate and high-pressure task, with Tottenham currently sitting just one point above the relegation zone and only seven games left to secure their Premier League status, despite having lifted the Europa League earlier in the season.

Reports indicate De Zerbi initially preferred to take over in the summer, but Tottenham moved aggressively to secure his appointment now, convinced he could stabilize the team during the crucial final stretch.

Sporting Director Johan Lange described the appointment as a major step for the club, stating that De Zerbi had been their top target.

“Roberto was our number one target for the summer and we are very pleased to be able to bring him in now. He is one of the most creative and forward thinking coaches in world football, and brings with him a wealth of experience at the highest level, including in the Premier League.”

De Zerbi is widely regarded for his attacking philosophy and tactical intelligence, qualities Tottenham will hope can quickly translate into results as they battle to avoid a dramatic drop.
