Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with interim manager Igor Tudor after just 44 days in charge, following a poor run of results.
Tudor, who was appointed on a short-term deal after the dismissal of Thomas Frank in February, managed only seven matches, losing five of them during his brief tenure.
A club statement confirmed the development, stating: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect.
“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
Tudor’s exit comes as Tottenham struggle near the bottom of the Premier League table, sitting just above the relegation zone after a series of disappointing performances. His final game in charge ended in a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
During his time at the club, Spurs also suffered a heavy 5-2 loss to Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Although they won the return leg 3-2, it was not enough to secure progression in the competition.
The club added that an announcement regarding a new head coach will be made in due course.
Having been part of the Premier League since its inception in 1992, Tottenham now face mounting pressure to avoid relegation as they prepare for their next fixture against Sunderland.
