Chelsea are close to signing Barcelona youth attacker Marc Guiu, with the Premier League club likely to trigger his €6 million release clause.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the 17-year-old is close to agreeing on personal terms.
Guiu’s contract with Barcelona expires in 2025, and his current club offered him a new, improved contract, but his agents have yet to answer.
Despite Barcelona’s attempts, the teenage striker appears poised to join Chelsea, bypassing a possible loan spell at sister club RC Strasbourg, where the Blues have sent several promising prospects.
Chelsea plan to evaluate Guiu before deciding whether he will join their first team or be loaned out.
The club are reportedly confident in his potential to develop into a top striker.
Guiu already made an impression at Barcelona, scoring a decisive goal against Athletic Club on his debut.
In his appearances for Barca Atletic this season, Guiu has tallied six goals and four assists in 16 games, often coming off the bench.
