“It’s Getting Boring Now” - Tyla Dismisses Britney Spears Comparisons

Tyla, a South African music sensation, has grown tired of being constantly compared to Britney Spears.

Since the premiere of her music video for “Water” in October, fans have drawn parallels to Britney’s legendary “I’m A Slave 4 U” video from 2001.

However, the 22-year-old musician is dissatisfied with the ongoing references.

Tyla aired her dissatisfaction in an honest interview with Dazed.

“Honestly, when people bring up these references, most of the time there was never a reference. It’s never, ‘Make the video look completely like this.’ It’s getting boring now.” Tyla emphasised that she and her team strive to innovate and create unique visuals for her music videos, steering clear of copying past icons.

The “Overdue” hitmaker takes pride in collaborating with individuals who bring fresh and innovative ideas to the table. “We have so many cool things of this time, new creatives. I just love working with people who have new and fresh ideas,” she stated.

Tyla’s approach to choreography is equally spontaneous and organic, often emerging from impromptu moments of creativity. “Even the dances that we come up with, it’s literally random people who just did something they felt in the moment which just caught on and now the world is doing it,” she explained.

Tyla’s debut studio album, released in March, showcases her unique sound and artistic vision. The album, titled “Tyla,” features contributions from prominent artists such as Travis Scott, Becky G, Gunna, Tems, and Skillibeng. This collaboration highlights her ability to blend diverse influences and create something truly original.

As Tyla continues to carve out her own path in the music industry, she remains focused on authenticity and innovation, leaving behind comparisons to past pop icons. With her distinct style and creative team, Tyla is set to make her mark on the global music scene, one original project at a time
