Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain has emerged as a top target for Manchester United as they look to bolster their roster.
The Old Trafford club is allegedly in talks with PSG about a potential transfer for the defensive midfielder.
The Red Devils are looking to improve their midfield, as Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat are expected to leave this summer.
Ugarte has been touted as a potential possibility to join Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in United’s midfield trio next season.
PSG have already rejected an initial bid from United for the Uruguayan international, demanding over £50 million.
Despite the setback, Ugarte is reportedly eager to move to the Premier League and would “love” to play for Manchester United, which could facilitate negotiations.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the “really concrete interest” from United, adding that PSG are open to selling Ugarte after just one season.
Romano stated on YouTube, “PSG are prepared to sell the player. They are not closing the door to the possibility of Ugarte leaving the club.
“Ugarte would be keen on a move to Man United even without Champions League football. Ugarte is a strong candidate for Man United in the midfield,” he added.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been praised for his unique technical ability and aggressive play.
