Edo: I’m unofficial APC member – Philip Shaibu

Shaibu announces date for declaration of Edo Governorship ambition

On Friday, Philips Shaibu, who was reinstated as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, announced that he considers himself an unofficial member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Despite this declaration, Shaibu stated that he is still affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as he has not yet officially left the party.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Shaibu explained that his support for the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, is indicative of his departure from the PDP.

He said: “In PDP now, everybody can support whoever they like. On the issue of supporting a candidate, the constitution guarantees that you can support who you like and you can belong to any political party.”

This decision comes amid his conflict with Governor Godwin Obaseki, which resulted in his impeachment.

Despite this, an Abuja Federal High Court ruled in favor of Shaibu’s reinstatement as deputy governor on Thursday.
