In a tumultuous upheaval that has reverberated through the political realm, Kenneth Okonkwo has severed his ties with Peter Obi, the chosen presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the upcoming 2023 elections.
In a vehement declaration shared on his social media platform on Sunday, Okonkwo directly criticized Peter Obi, portraying him as grossly deficient in strength and decisiveness, incapable of confronting the significant challenges facing the nation directly.
The seasoned Actor turned politician disclosed that the disorderly events unfolding within the Labour Party have strengthened his determination to chart a new course in his political journey.
He expressed deep disappointment at Peter Obi’s blatant neglect of constructing a reputable and strong political party, opting instead to mobilize a powerful political support base.
According to Kenneth Okonkwo, his astonishment grew when Obi boldly stated that his objective was not to cultivate a robust Labour Party, but solely to address Nigeria’s issues, disregarding entirely the crucial necessity of a firm political groundwork to dismantle the dominance of the opposition.
He criticized Peter Obi for his evident failure to distance himself from the ongoing chaos and alleged illicit practices within the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), as well as his lack of backing for the Labour Union’s unwavering advocacy for workers’ rights.
This disloyalty, as Okonkwo highlighted, has highlighted Obi’s deficiency in demonstrating the necessary decisiveness and foresight to lead Nigeria out of its current predicament.
Okonkwo openly expressed his disillusionment, further denouncing both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as feeble entities, inadequately equipped to guide Nigeria towards prosperity, and actively impeding the nation’s advancement.
He stressed that Nigeria urgently requires not just any political party, but a resilient political organization with a solid grassroots support system and a leader possessing the unwavering determination to dismantle the entrenched influence of the PDP and APC.
