Paris 2024: Messi in shock as Morocco beats Argentina 2-1

Lionel Messi confirms 2022 World Cup will be his last

After Argentina’s devastating 2-1 defeat to Morocco in their 2024 Paris Olympic opener, captain Lionel Messi expressed his shock on social media.

Despite a late goal by Cristian Medina that appeared to equalize the game at 2-2, the result was overturned after a VAR check due to offside.

The match was interrupted by angry Moroccan fans storming the stadium and ultimately ended with a 2-1 victory for Morocco.

The Inter Miami captain wrote on his Instagram story:

“Insolito (Spanish).” “Unbelievable (English).”

Messi, who is recovering from an ankle injury, is not part of Argentina’s Olympic squad.
