The police have opened an inquiry into Linus Williams, alias Blord, the CEO of the Blord Group of Companies, for alleged fraud, among other claims.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force, confirmed the development in a brief statement on Tuesday: “Alleged Fraud, Violation of Cbn Act, Police Interrogates CEO Blord Group of Companies, Linus Williams.”
Adejobi pledged that the police would conduct a thorough investigation and that Nigeria’s cyberspace must be secured.
The statement said, “The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology. These offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
“We will do due diligence in our investigations. Our cyber space in Nigeria must be safe and secured by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
Controversial social media influencer VeryDarkMan first broke the news of Blord’s arrest on his Instagram account on Monday.
“BLORD HAS BEEN DETAINED BY FCID IN ABUJA….lets see his influence now✌️who get influence no dey shout @npf_nccc I have more people to bring ooooo,” he wrote.
