If no last-minute interventions occur, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions (NASU) will begin a protest in Abuja on Thursday.
The protest will start at the Unity Fountain in Abuja at 8am and will culminate at the Office of the Minister of Education, Mamman Tahir, where the affected staff will express their grievances about not receiving their four months’ salary when they joined ASUU for industrial action in 2022.
Despite President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the affected staff to be paid, members of SSANU and NASU are still awaiting their salaries months after the directive was issued.
