JUST IN: FG issues travel alert for citizens planning to visit UK

Lagos Airport shut temporarily after mangled corpse was found on runway

On Monday, the Nigerian government issued a travel advisory for its citizens traveling to the UK. The statement was signed by Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, the spokesperson for the Minister of Interior.

It noted that “There is an increased risk of violence and disorder occasioned by the recent riots in the UK.”

It advised Nigerians travelling there to “be extra vigilant and take measures.”

Citizens are advised to steer clear of political gatherings, protests, rallies, and marches while in the UK. Furthermore, they should avoid crowded places and large group gatherings as a safety precaution.
