Mariah Carey, the American singer, has confirmed the tragic news that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day last weekend.
The multiple Grammy-winning artist shared this information in a statement on Monday, but did not mention the causes of death or the specific date.
“My heart is broken that I have lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I was blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Carey said.
Prior to their passing, Mariah Carey’s mother, Patricia, who was a well-known opera singer, collaborated with her daughter. The talented singer has previously credited her mother as the inspiration behind her music career.
It is known that Mariah Carey had a difficult relationship with her sister, Alison. In her memoir, Carey revealed that she chose to maintain a distance from her sister, as well as her brother Morgan, for her own emotional and physical well-being.
In addition to this recent heartbreaking news, it is remembered that Carey’s father, Alfred Roy Carey, passed away from cancer in 2002.
