The renowned vocalist, Yemi Alade, is set to compose and perform the theme song for the forthcoming Nigerian superhero animation ‘Iyanu’ by Lion Forge Entertainment.
This declaration was made by the artist through a video communication shared on the series’ official YouTube platform over the weekend.
She said: “Hello, everyone, my name is Yemi Alade. I’ve fantastic news for you today. I just want to share with you right now that I’ve been asked to sing the theme song for the incredible animated series ‘Iyanu’.
“Enjoy my song ‘Iyanu’ right now. This is a love message from me to you and I really hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.”
Immersed in Nigerian traditions and folklore, ‘Iyanu’ is an interpretation of the well-known graphic novel ‘Iyanu: Child of Wonder’ by the Nigerian originator and director, Roye Okupe.
The primary soundtrack is a joint effort involving Yemi Alade, Lion Forge Entertainment, Alcon Sleeping Giant, and Femi Agunbiade, the principal composer for the show.
The premiere of ‘Iyanu’ is slated for 2025 in the United States and various regions across Africa. American viewers can tune in to Cartoon Network and Max for the series, while audiences in 44 African nations can access it through Showmax.
The cast features notable figures such as Serah Johnson portraying Iyanu, alongside Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu, and Shaffy Bello.
Yemi Alade has previously contributed to Beyoncé’s ‘Lion King: The Gift’ album, which served as a soundtrack for the animated film of the same name.
