Victor Boniface scored a thrilling injury-time winner as Bayer Leverkusen defeated 10-man Wolfsburg 4-3 at the BayArena.
Leverkusen came from behind twice in the tense match, with Wolfsburg taking the lead just four minutes in thanks to a Nordi Mukiele own goal.
Ten minutes later, Florian Wirtz levelled the score with a well-placed strike from the edge of the box.
Leverkusen appeared to take control when Jonathan Tah headed in a corner from Alejandro Grimaldo in the 32nd minute, putting them ahead 2-1.
However, Wolfsburg quickly fought back. Sebastiaan Bornauw equalized five minutes later from a corner.
Just before halftime, Mattias Svanberg’s long-range strike gave Wolfsburg a 3-2 lead.
In the second half, Leverkusen dominated possession, with Piero Hincapié making it 3-3 after heading in from a corner early in the half.
Substitute Boniface had a strong chance saved by Wolfsburg keeper Kamil Grabara, but he went on to have the final say, netting the winning goal in the 93rd minute.
Leverkusen’s win keeps them three points behind Bayern Munich, who remain unbeaten after a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday.
