Augustine Eguavoen has reportedly resigned from his position as the interim coach of the Super Eagles, according to OwnGoalNigeria.
Eguavoen stated that his role was only for two games and the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, was brought in temporarily after the search for a permanent head coach was unsuccessful.
He oversaw the Eagles’ matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Nigeria winning 3-0 against Benin and drawing 0-0 with Rwanda.
Refusing to discuss plans for the upcoming game against Libya, Eguavoen emphasized that his mandate was specifically for the two games he was in charge of.
He said: “I have been given a mandate to handle two games.
“I will want to say I am very pleased with the boys and again, thanks to the NFF leadersip and all the boys who supported me.
“It ends today. I can’t talk about Libya, because I haven’t been told about it.”
