Award-winning Nigerian comedian Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda shaggi, celebrated his birthday this year with a heartfelt reflection and gratitude for life.
Taking to Instagram, he shared photos from his birthday photoshoot, revealing that he usually isn’t fond of celebrating his birthday, often turning off his phone to avoid birthday wishes and cakes. However, this year marked a significant exception.
Brodashaggi opened up about a recent close encounter with death, which left him with a profound sense of gratitude.
He shared how this experience made him appreciate the gift of life more deeply, especially since some of his birthday mates did not live to celebrate theirs.
Reflecting on his brush with mortality, Brodashaggi wrote:
“Birthdays are usually not my thing. In fact, I switch off my phone these days cos I dislike receiving birthday calls and wishes…But this particular birthday is different cos the gift of life was almost taken from me recently but God showed himself and gave me another chance.”
In the same post, Brodashaggi encouraged his fans and loved ones to listen to a birthday song he made for himself, which is available on various music platforms, as a way to celebrate with him.
