Davido, the popular Afrobeat artist, captivated the audience in Ethiopia during the country’s New Year celebrations in 2017.
In Ethiopia, the New Year, known as Enkutatash, is celebrated on September 11 (or September 12 in a leap year) due to their calendar recognizing Jesus Christ’s birth occurring seven or eight years later than the Western calendar.
Davido‘s performance was a standout moment during the festive celebrations, as fans enthusiastically embraced his high-energy set, bringing an extra layer of excitement to the holiday. The singer himself expressed his appreciation for the event, stating, “Ethiopia last night was amazing !!”.
The viral video of Davido’s performance led to humorous reactions from Nigerians, joking that it appeared as though the singer had traveled back in time to entertain the crowd.
