Independence Day: FG declares Tuesday public holiday

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced on behalf of the Federal Government that Tuesday, 1st of October 2024, has been designated as a public holiday to celebrate the Nation’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad.

In a statement released in Abuja on Saturday and signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister commended the resilient and hardworking Nigerian citizens, assuring them that their efforts will not go unrecognized.

Echoing the theme of the Anniversary, the Minister emphasized the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices made by our past heroes and drawing inspiration from them for the challenges that lie ahead. He urged Nigerians to come together and work towards building the Nigeria of our collective aspirations.

While wishing Nigerians a Happy Independence Day Anniversary, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged the citizens to continue to be steadfast in nation-building.
