An unspecified number of inmates have escaped from the Maiduguri correctional center following a prison break caused by severe flooding in the Borno State capital on Tuesday.
The flooding caused extensive damage to the prison and other facilities in the city.
The prison authorities have confirmed that the escapees are considered highly dangerous and may be armed.
This incident may increase security threats in the state due to the presence of terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements.
