The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, is calling for an immediate roll back of petrol prices nationwide. This demand was announced in a statement on the NLC’s social media page on Tuesday evening.
The post reads: “We demand the immediate reversal of the latest increase in the pump of PMS across the country.”
The union expressed feeling betrayed by President Bola Tinubu earlier in the day following the increase in the official fuel price by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, from N617 to N897 per litre.
NLC president, Joe Ajaero, stated that their acceptance of the N70,000 minimum wage was based on the understanding that there would be no further hikes in fuel prices.
Ajaero warned that the Congress would convene in the coming days to discuss and announce any necessary actions in response to the price increase.
