Tinubu extends Egbetokun’s tenure as IGP

According to sources close to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun is set to continue in his position for another four years, as approved by President Bola Tinubu.

This extension follows the amendment of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020 (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which increased the service years of police personnel from 35 to 40 years and from 60 to 65 years of age.

Egbetokun has been handed his renewal letter for a four-year tenure.
