British supermodel, Naomi Campbell, has been prohibited from serving as a trustee for charities within the United Kingdom.
Ms. Campbell received a suspension for a duration of five years subsequent to a determination by a UK regulatory body, which identified that charitable funds had been allocated towards extravagant spa services and opulent accommodations.
The UK Charity Commission, the governing body responsible for the registration and regulation of charities within England and Wales, indicated that, following a protracted investigation spanning three years into the financial practices of the charity, “only 8.5% of the charity’s total expenditure was directed towards charitable grants in the six-year timeframe from 2016.”
In an official statement, the commission disclosed that a portion of the charity’s financial resources was utilized to cover Ms. Campbell’s expenses for stays at luxurious hotels, spa treatments, and tobacco products.
Reacting to the inquiry in an interview with AP, Naomi Campbell said, “I have just found out about the findings today. And I am extremely concerned.
“I wasn’t in control of my charity, I put the control in the hands of a legal employer.”
